Mrs. Janice Paris - Director of Bands
Janice Paris came to Nelsonville-York in the fall of 2003. She began her career teaching junior high band and choir, 7th grade general music, and team-teaching elementary bands. Mrs. Paris worked alongside Mr. Terry Robb for six years as the associate high school marching band director. Upon his move to administration in 2009, Mrs. Paris became the Director of Instrumental Music for NY City Schools.
Currently, Mrs Paris teaches high school piano labs and all of the bands from grades 5-12, including marching band, pep band, and a volunteer jazz band. Her students have achieved numerous superior and excellent ratings at OMEA District 17 Solo and Ensemble events. They have also been very successful at OMEA marching band and large group competitions. High school members have represented Nelsonville-York across the state in honor bands at Capitol University, Bowling Green, Ohio University, and the Ohio All-State Band.
Prior to establishing her life in Nelsonville, Janice Paris (Tatman) graduated from Logan Elm High School where her directors were Mr. James A. Chickrell (band) and Mr. Dan Jones (choir). She completed her Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Ohio University in Athens. She was a proud member of the OU trombone studio and marched for five years with the Marching 110. Mrs. Paris now resides in Nelsonville with her husband and two beautiful daughters.
Mr. Michael Eubanks - Assistant Marching Band Director
Michael Eubanks is currently on the advisory panel at GrooveU, an innovative two-year Music Career College in Columbus, Ohio. He is the Assistant Marching Band Director, and the music arranger for the Nelsonville-York High School Marching Band in Nelsonville, Ohio. Michael is also a freelance battery arranger/instructor, arranging music for the Ohio University Marching 110, The Chick-fil-a Peach Bowl Mass Band, Temple University Marching Band, and many others.
From 2007 to 2012, Michael taught drumset, courses in music theory, computer music applications, and was the creator/director of the Percussion Ensemble at Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio. He is an active performer, composer and arranger in southern Ohio, and an Alumni of “The Most Exciting Band in the Land,” The Ohio University Marching 110. During his tenure in the snareline at OU (1996-2001), he served as a composer/arranger for the drumline, as well as a member of the teaching staff.
Michael earned his degree in Applied Business (Music Industry) from Hocking College, where he joined the Music Program faculty in 2007. Michael proudly endorses Vic Firth drumsticks & mallets.
