Mrs. Janice JANISZEWSKI - Director of Bands
Janice Janiszewski came to Nelsonville-York in the fall of 2003. She began her career teaching junior high band and choir, 7th grade general music, and team-teaching elementary bands. She worked alongside Mr. Terry Robb for six years as the associate high school marching band director. Upon his move to administration in 2009, Mrs. Janiszewski became the Director of Instrumental Music for the Nelsonville-York City Schools.
Since then, Mrs. Janiszewski has taught a variety of courses, including piano lab, music theory, beginner band, middle school concert bands, high school concert, marching, and pep bands, and a volunteer after school jazz ensemble. Her students have achieved numerous superior and excellent ratings at OMEA District 17 Solo and Ensemble events. They have also been very successful at OMEA marching band and large group competitions. High school members have represented Nelsonville-York across the state in honor bands at Capitol University, Bowling Green, Ohio University, the OMEA District 17 Honor Band, and the Ohio All-State Band. Prior to establishing her career in Nelsonville, Janice Janiszewski (Tatman) graduated from Logan Elm High School where her band directors were Mr. James A. Chickrell and Mr. John Rundag. She completed her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music Education from Ohio University in Athens. She was a proud member of the OU trombone studio and marched for five years with the Marching 110, where she served as music section leader. |
